Gingerbread House Festival: November 13-15, 2008

Kick off your holiday season by participating in and attending the Gingerbread House Festival! Proceeds from the Festival will fund Learning for Life character education classes in our local schools and contribute to Utah PTA’s Arts Education Fund that supports local efforts for arts education activities in our public schools. The Gingerbread House Festival will be held November 13-15, 2008 . It is located at Thanksgiving Point’s Show Barn and will be open to all from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $3.50 per adult, $2.50 per child and $12.00 for a family of six.

At the Gingerbread House Festival you will find houses made by school children, teachers and their classes, families, Cub Scout and Boy Scout units, adult amateurs, and even professionals. Bring your family and enjoy viewing the gingerbread creations; treat your children to either a gingerbread man cookie they can decorate themselves or a gingerbread house with volunteers on hand to assist in the decorating.

“The Gingerbread House Festival is fun for all ages,” said Hugh DeHart 2007 Festival Chair, “and a great way to support needed programs for our children.” The Gingerbread House Festival will kick off with a Gala event held Wednesday evening, November 12, at La Caile restaurant by special invitation and will include dinner and a live auction.

Learning for Life is a character education, life skills, and workforce development program for boys and girls delivered through your local school system.
Schools partnering with Learning for Life utilize lesson plans that supplement each school’s core curriculum, while at the same time introducing the students to basic life skills and character development. It is the mission of Learning for Life to enable young people to become responsible individuals by teaching positive character traits, career development, leadership, and life skills so they can make ethical choices and achieve their full potential.

The Utah PTA Arts Education Fund endeavors to insure children’s access to dance, music, theater and the visual arts in Utah public schools. The fund helps provide schools with visiting artists, art supplies, musical scores, musical instruments, theatrical props and costumes, the creation or enhancement of an existing arts program or project and expertise to support student performances and productions.
The mission of Utah PTA is to help each child realize their full potential. The officers and members of Utah PTA feel the Arts are a vital part of every child’s education and an essential part of helping each child realize their full potential.
